Acoustic & Emission Technology Focus Directs Name Change
On December 8, 2009 at the International Power Generation Conference, Universal Silencer announced changing its name to UNIVERSAL.
Universal's President, Randy Eppli, states, “Over the past 5 years we have seen an ever increasing demand from our customers to help them be more environmentally conscious and meet higher air quality standards for exhaust emissions. This demand from our customers and the marketplace has driven the development of our core technologies within engine, blower, fan, compressor and vent acoustics and emissions. Therefore, the name Universal Silencer communicates only a part of our capabilities." Mr. Eppli continues, “The name change also helps support our mission of providing clean, quiet technology for the world's energy needs."
In business for over 50 years, the name change was taken seriously. “The balance was trying to maintain the brand identity built up over the years with our customers and communicating to the marketplace that our capabilities go beyond just silencers," states Chad Kaderabek, Universal's Marketing Manager. “By keeping the Universal name and the “green box" logo, we keep our identity but also communicate our complete engine, blower, fan, compressor and vent inlet and exhaust system expertise."
Customers Rely on Universal for Entire, Validated Exhaust Systems
The name change is in line with a series of strategic changes that have taken place over the past couple years. The Universal name communicates a growing global presence which is evident by commercial and manufacturing locations located throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Universal also has a division, Universal Emission Technologies, led by Brian Kahl, Vice President of Emission Technologies. Mr. Kahl states, “The name Universal further allows us to communicate our complete package offering to our customers. When we leverage our core acoustics expertise with our offering of emission products, our customers can now rely on one source for an entire, validated exhaust system."
Universal is a global leader in acoustic and emission technologies. Since 1959, original equipment manufacturers, packagers and end-users have relied on Universal's standard and custom-engineered products for solving noise and air pollution problems in the industrial process, power generation, marine, oil & gas, locomotive and waste water markets. The ability to design, manufacture and install natural gas and diesel inlet and exhaust systems, turbine inlet and exhaust systems, compressor silencers and vent silencers around the globe sets Universal apart from its competition. EPA Tier 4, Euro Stage III and IV, and California Air Resource Board (CARB) requirements are areas of expertise within the Universal family.
