Universal Celebrates 50 Years of Success

Universal has announced plans to celebrate its 50 years of continued success. The plans include a global celebration at all of its business offices and manufacturing locations on May 21, 2009. Universal has business offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, and China. Manufacturing locations are in Muscoda, Wisconsin and San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Company History

Founded in Libertyville, Illinois on May 21, 1959, Universal, LLC is a leading innovator in Acoustic and Emission Technologies. Acquired by Nelson Industries in 1971, Universal relocated its operations to Stoughton, Wisconsin, from Libertyville, Illinois, in June of 1975. Under the direction of Nelson Industries, it expanded manufacturing operations to Muscoda, Wisconsin. In 1998, Nelson Industries along with Universal was purchased by Cummins, Inc., allowing it entry into global operations.

Celebrating 50 Years of Success 1959 - 2009

In November of 2007, Universal was acquired by an independent group of mostly Wisconsin based investors, including the senior management team, making the global headquarters of the business in Stoughton, Wisconsin. Since its inception to provide industrial mufflers, it has expanded into air filtration product as well as emission treatment products.

Developing New Technologies and Products to Meet Customer Needs

Universal’s President, Randy Eppli, states, "The reason for our 50 years of success is simple. Our employees are focused on serving our customers around the globe. In addition, we continue to invest resources to develop new products and services that our customers need. An example of adapting to our customers’ ever changing needs is our recent announcement of a new emissions treatment product line to make engine emissions significantly cleaner."
